Read, Learn and Educate

Well, hallelujah the crazy whack job is back again to rant his heart out… So dear children, the topics that have aroused my fury is well the morons who waste half their lives getting educated, yet have no real knowledge of what they have learnt. Confused? Well, I am talking about the morons who study day in and day out, get good grades yet have can’t apply a single damn thing that they have learnt in their books to real life. They say, “Common sense is not very common.” Alas, in today’s society, common sense is so very common that it almost makes me want to kill every damn idiot who surrounds me… but unfortunately that won’t be mass murder, it would be genocide.

Oh, I am sorry let me elaborate it to you Einstein’s with an example: “I was in a car with some people on a cold night. Since the windows were rolled up soon the windscreen started to get foggy from the inside, ‘Hey turn on the heater so the fog goes away.’ I just turned towards that guy and gave him the most admiring look I have ever given anyone and in the sweetest way asked, ‘You are a physics major right mate?’ ‘Why?’ ‘Well because Mr. Feynman, the fog on the inner glass is due to the temperature difference as its cold outside and hot inside. Basic physics.’ ‘Oh where did we study that?’ ‘… No where… Please turn on the heater at full heat and kindly let me bang my head on the dashboard. Sorry I bothered.’

Here is another one, not too long ago I had the immense pleasure of going with some of my department’s toppers to a science quiz. I was in the science exhibition and had a lot of free time on my hands so I decided to watch how the “brilliant physicists of class 2008-12” were fairing. But before I could proceed I got a message on my cell asking me the formula for molarity (something which you learn in the 8th grade), yes you guessed it, it was one of those geniuses who had texted me. “No problem, it’s been so long they may have just forgotten it.” I mean its fine… but the next day as I watched their science quiz, I thanked God that I had brought an iPod with me as the word; “Enrico Fermi” was supposedly the answer to every question being thrown at those geniuses. I mean a future with these geniuses guiding the research institutes of our country really makes me want to just frolic around in a pink tutu as we are heading for such a bright future.

Now I know a lot of you lot would be highly skeptic but if you doubt me simply go to any school you want and just ask any 8-10th grader if they can approximately the volume of a pizza pie or a washroom wiper. I can guarantee you that more than 70% would just stare at you as you have just spoken ancient Babylon. No I don’t want crap about how A level students are any better. I know many of them, and yes many of them do have a clear concept of what they have studied but even they stare and drool if you ask them to think a little outside the box.

So, who is to blame? The government for devising such a high standard syllabi that not only it captures the imagination of kids everywhere but also acts as a good lullaby to all who dare to stumble upon it? Or perhaps, the idiotic teachers who are so well educated and unorthodox that they simply make the students go “oohh and ahhh” with their teaching? Yea well that would be the easy way so let’s just take that… Or I know how about we brand the moron, idiotic enough to consider it a problem as a mental patient and go on with our daily lives? Well as good as all these options seem for once, just as a unique experiment, let’s try blaming ourselves shall we? Oh no, but everything that goes wrong is never our fault! BLASPHEMER!!! Yea, well the fact remains the same… It is our own fault that we the students prefer memorization instead of actually bothering to read in between the lines of what is being taught to us. Now, don’t go all noble and say, “Oh but I study on concepts” Well Mr. Conceptual please close this page and go on with your brilliant concepts as you surely have never said, “Hmm… I guess I’ll memorize this bit.” But to the rest, wake up and please start applying what you learn in your real lives. Learn to educate yourself and others… The brain is there to use, don’t keep it locked tight in a container… Ask questions and learn for once… Thank you.

“approximately the volume of a pizza pie or a washroom wiper.”
I didn’t understand this part, we have to find out the volume of a wha-?

Other than that, well written :D

-I loved your sense of humor. It is what actually soothed your mordant article. It is mordant but true .I really enjoyed reading it.
-I’m a teacher ,and I admit that I’m an idiot because I ‘m still implementing the same fruitless teaching techniques just to comply to a barren education sytem. umm, maybe semi-idiot ,because lately,I have been trying to teach them using my own ways, and things have worked well so far.
-You’re absolutely right,we should keep learning .Learning is a lifelong learning process.
-Question is the only way to broaden the sphere of our knowledge.Personally ,I love questions :)

Half of my school is polluted with such morons. I mean it’s all books books books grades grades grades, but no sense.
Sometimes I get so pissed, I feel like burning them. LOL,

  6. Every sane household needs to teach their children to study not just to pass tests or score great marks! Marks don’t matter. How much you gained is what counts. You know, after every result day at my daughter’s school, one of the parents religiously calls me up to find out the percentage of my daughter!
